What is Holistic Medicine? What are the Aspects of Healing?

What is Holistic Medicine?

Holistic medicine is a system of healthcare that emphasizes the need to look at the whole person, including analysis of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual, and lifestyle values. It requires a cooperative relationship among all involved, leading towards optimal attainment of the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health. Holistic medicine focuses on education and responsibility for personal efforts to achieve balance and well being.

Physical Aspect of Healing:

~ Support the entire body with nutritionally dense food, in its most natural state, and free of chemicals, hormones, additives or synthetic nutrients.

~ Hydrate with water free of chemicals (fluoride / chloride) and additives.

~ Use whole food supplements at therapeutic levels, for a season, to reverse damage at organ and gland level and to nourish and rebuild. Avoid use of synthetic nutrients.

~ Clear any remaining tissue damage from old physical traumas or scars (Cation Mudpack Therapy is very helpful)

Emotional / Mental Aspect of Healing:

~ Heal emotional issues. Unresolved emotional issues often manifest as physical disease. Let go of negative or destructive thoughts and relationships. EVOX Therapy and Emotional Repolarization Technique are very helpful tools for healing emotional trauma. Love yourself!! Real healing happens from the inside out…not the outside in!

~ Create a healthy environment in which to live and work.  Maintain good boundaries for yourself to honor yourself and others in this journey that is ‘Life’.  Be open to learning and growing from experiences.  Live more from ‘spirit’ instead of ‘ego’

Fact: The body, mind and spirit can heal themselves. The right environment must be provided for that to happen. It is a matter of choice…..a true gift to cherish.

A Few Secrets for Maintaining Good Health

Optimize Digestion and Balance pH Levels

As we age, or consume a high amount of cooked or processed foods, our digestion becomes sluggish.  Many people are misdiagnosed as having acid reflux and given an acid inhibitor drug to fix the problem.  The truth is that belching, indigestion, and acid reflux symptoms are a sign that there is too little acid and too few digestive enzymes in the stomach to properly digest food.  When our digestion is poor we are also unable to properly assimilate key nutrients that keep our pH in the optimal alkaline range and repair bone and soft tissue.  This is important for everyone, but especially for women, because if the blood pH levels are too acidic, the body will ‘steal’ minerals from the bones to buffer the acidic blood, leading to osteopenia and osteoporosis.  Proper supplementation and healthy eating habits can reverse this process.  Digestive health and alkaline pH levels are the keys to anti-aging and longevity.

Remove Hidden Infections

Hidden infections, including parasites, can live undetected in the body for years.  Symptoms can include fatigue, brain fog, memory problems, tumors, fibroids, auto-immune diseases, and cancer.  It is top priority to remove these ‘root causes’ of degenerative disease by removing the infection.  Until the infection is removed, the end result of degenerative disease or cancer will continue to return.  Through QRA, hidden infections can be found and eliminated with natural herbs and nutrients.

Balance Hormone Levels

A healthy endocrine system supports whole body health as well as optimal mood and energy levels.  Supporting the hormone system assures a healthy aging process free of uncomfortable symptoms…for both men and women.

Detoxify the Body

We acquire toxins in our every day lives, no matter how carefully we try to avoid exposure.  Toxins from our water, foods, beauty products, and environment can suppress the normal function of the organs and glands.  Their functions cannot be restored for the long term without removing the toxins themselves.  Removing toxins is easy to do, and can be maintained by understanding what foods and types of water are best for us.

Healthy Fats

Dietary fats are important for healthy DNA and cell formation.  Healthy fats such as Cold Pressed Olive Oil, Virgin Coconut Oil, and Organic Grass Fed Butter give the body high quality construction materials to build cell walls that have ‘high fluidity’ and resist the penetration of viruses and bacteria.  Inferior oils to be avoided include: Canola, Soybean, Corn and other vegetable oils.  Also, never cook at high heat with Olive Oil, as it easily oxidizes when exposed to heat.  Consuming any oxidized oil can damage the cells of the body, causing inflammation and disease.

Integrative Medicine Treats the Whole Person

Integrative Medicine

Integrative Medicine

Integrative Medicine is healing-oriented in that it focuses on treating every aspect of what it means to be human: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, whereas traditional allopathic medicine focuses on only the part of the physical body or mental state that is showing a symptom of disease.  Although allopathic medicine may offer a ‘cure’ for symptoms or disease, the patient may not actually be truly ‘healed’.  Pharmaceutical drugs can be given for high blood pressure, depression, digestive disorders, and insomnia to ‘cure’ them, but once the drugs are taken away, the diseases return. So, is this patient really healed? I would say the answer is ‘no’. ‘Healing’ does not equal ‘curing’.  Healing is a much broader and deeper process in which the body, mind and spirit are balanced.  When the body, mind and spirit are balanced, disease cannot exist.

An Integrative Medicine practitioner may utilize traditional lab work, blood tests, and imaging to determine areas of concern, but will choose to employ less invasive therapies such as nutrition, herbal therapy, acupuncture, poultices and packs, physical exercise, diet and lifestyle changes, emotional healing, bio-feedback therapies, and stress relieving practices to create an environment in which the person can fully heal. Treating the ‘whole person’ provides a foundation to build and maintain real health. And ‘real health’ is freedom.  Real health does not need to be supported or maintained with drugs, chemicals or surgeries.  Integrative Medicine can offer the freedom and real health to live, learn, grow, experience and enjoy life and all that it has to offer. Isn’t that why we’re here?

Nutrition Therapy and Quantum Reflex Analysis are Valuable Tools for Reversing Illness by Finding the Real Root Causes

Good health is inarguably one’s most valuable possession. Without good health, being highly productive and enjoying day to day life becomes an increasing challenge. What is good health? According to the World Health Organization, health is defined as: “A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” However, the latest statistics from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reveal that over 50% of Americans suffer from at least one type of chronic disease. Where are we spending our money? “75% of all health care dollars are spent on patients with one or more chronic conditions, many of which can be prevented, including diabetes, obesity, heart disease, lung disease, high blood pressure, and cancer.” Source: Health Affairs

How can it possibly be that Americans spend more on healthcare than any other nation, yet continue to lack true health? Our current healthcare system widely supports the management of disease. The business of medicine depends on patients using drugs and other therapies to manage symptoms of chronic illness. Patients take daily doses of medications to manage their hypertension, depression, anxiety, high cholesterol, pain, allergies, and acid reflux with seemingly no end to treatment.

The practice of medicine is far different….it focuses on the prevention and reversal of disease. Is it realistic to believe that chronic illness can truly be reversed and prevented? Absolutely! I have witnessed the reversal of chronic illness in myself and many of my patients, and I feel that it is important to share valuable information that will only empower you to take control of your health by freeing yourself from chronic illness, save money on your healthcare both now and in the future, and ultimately be free to live your purpose and enjoy life to its fullest.

But first, I’d like to share a shortened version of my journey that brought me to where I am today. At the age of 28, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I experienced excruciating pain in every muscle and joint in my body, I could not sleep, and found great difficulty in performing simple physical tasks or even walking a few blocks with my dogs. Western treatments of antidepressants and pain drugs offered no lasting results, and even made me feel worse at times. I decided that I would not accept that at such a young age my body was failing me. I searched for answers outside of the traditional medical community, and found a complete reversal of pain and illness through acupuncture, herbal and nutritional therapy. Intrigued and thirsty for knowledge, I quit my job, enrolled full time in graduate school, and received degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Today I practice a unique form of therapy called Quantum Reflex Analysis (or QRA for short).

QRA integrates the science of quantum physics with acupuncture and kinesiology to form a powerful tool used to detect hidden infections, nutritional deficiencies, chemical exposure, and unhealed trauma from physical scars as well as past emotional trauma.

I have witnessed what would be seen as miraculous and permanent reversal of the most chronic illnesses through the practice of QRA. Patients have been healed of IBS and Crohn’s disease, chronic depression and anxiety, thyroid disorders, heart disease, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, pain, arthritis, acid reflux, acne and skin issues, immune disorders, hormonal imbalances, Lyme’s disease, and even cancer and many other illnesses with no official diagnosis at all.

The truth is that the body is fully able to heal itself given the proper nutrients and environment. Most often I find that patients who have chronic illnesses have many ‘layers’ of hidden infections in their bodies, as well as exposure to chemicals, radiation, or heavy metals, poor digestion and absorption of nutrients, toxic tissue at past surgery scar and trauma sites, and impaired organ or gland function due to nutritional deficiencies and poor diet. Once these issues are corrected, the body fully heals and the illness is gone.

Not only does QRA detect which organs and glands need help, but it also reveals the correct herbs or nutrients as well as the exact dosage per day needed to fully correct the problem. Nutrients are taken for a specific amount of time in specific doses, and are not usually needed long term. Once the organ or gland is healed and functioning normally again, supplements are no longer needed. I’ve found that most chronic illnesses can be reversed in 6 months or less. Some people have a tremendous amount of infection and toxins within their bodies and may need to take their therapy at a much slower pace to reduce the detoxification effect. Those who have the most patience and diligence and follow their program through to the end, experience the most profound and lasting healing.

For as many successful patients who follow their healing program through to completion, I also have patients who quit too soon, or who do not follow their plan as prescribed. They miss out on reaching their goal, which is a shame. I do find that past emotional traumas play a big role in self-sabotaging behavior. I work with patients to effectively clear unhealthy beliefs at the subconscious level. Once the patient clears that past emotional trauma at the deepest level, they find it much easier to do what is healthy for them and are very successful at regaining their health, as well as healing many other areas of their lives. They become more confident and can make better choices for themselves. It’s truly a beautiful transformation to witness!

There is really so much more I could say about the real possibilities of healing that are available to people. We need to have a paradigm shift in our healthcare system, seeking true health instead of managing the symptoms of disease. It is possible and it is happening right now.

I’d like to share some points for people to remember at all times when searching for good healthcare.

1. Be a skeptic. Healthy skepticism will allow you to make good choices for yourself. I have the most respect for people who don’t just blindly believe what I tell them, but instead go and research it for themselves. When I’m presented with new ideas and information, I always research it for myself and check my intuition to decide if it’s right for me.

2. Accept that the body really can heal itself. Try new things, be open to new ideas and look for results. Change requires courage….be courageous every day!

3. Choose a competent physician. A good doctor will not only give you a good treatment plan to follow, but they will teach you how to take better care of yourself and guide you to find knowledge on your own. They will want to empower you to be healthy in the future, and not depend on them exclusively for your health. A good doctor will also set a good example of what health is, and will not only talk the talk, but will walk the walk. How could you ever expect an unhealthy doctor to guide you to health?

4. Be patient. True health does not happen overnight. It requires you to be an active participant in your healing, and take full responsibility for the choices you make. Remember, no one can heal you. You can be guided in a treatment plan, but it is you who must make it happen. As is true with any endeavor, you will only receive the benefits equal to the effort you put into it.

Continue to plant seeds of health every day, nurture your mind, body and soul, and expect the healing to happen. If someone tells you that there is ‘no cure’ for your illness, don’t be so quick to believe them. Search for and expect something different. It’s time to change the way we think about healthcare. It’s time to expect and experience real healing and real health.

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease” ~~ Thomas Edison

Holistic Medicine Therapy

Holistic Medicine

Holistic Medicine

Holistic Medicine encompasses a wide array of natural and functional therapies that can bring the body back to a balanced state, free of disease. These therapies can be used alone or, even more powerfully, together.

Oriental Medicine employs many of these Holistic Medical Therapies to address all aspects of what it means to be human…..physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.  For the fastest return to health, these therapies are meant to be used together.  The most common include:

1. Nutrition Therapy in the form of Food and Herbal Medicine.

2. Acupuncture

3. Mudpacks and Poultices

4. Meditation, Physical Exercise, Stress Reduction

Nutrition Therapy:

We are what we eat.  This is the most true statement when it comes to the discernment we should be practicing regarding what we put into our bodies.  Our current food system is not even close to being capable of maintaining healthy bodies and minds.  Chemicals, GMO’s, processed foods, fast foods, sugars, low fat diets, unhealthy oils, and nutrient deficient foods are the mainstay of the American diet. Is it any wonder that chronic, degenerative disease now affects over 55% of all Americans?  A return to nutrient dense, locally and sustainably farmed, organic and heirloom food sources is key to a return to health. We should not have to depend on supplements as a ‘stop gap’ to support our wellbeing.  However, until our food sources return to ‘health’ we can utilize whole food source herbs and nutrients to correct deficiencies and damage done by years of poor diet and lifestyle choices.

Acupuncture:

A stagnation in the flow of ‘Qi’ or Energy in the body results in illness.  Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to bring balance back to a body, mind or spirit.  The laws of physics and physiology explain how acupuncture works.  Stimulating points along electrical pathways called ‘meridians’ causes changes to the rate of oscillation of water clusters in the body, and induces the release of chemicals and nutrients that lead to systemic healing of the body.  Acupuncture can be used for pain relief, mood and energy, hormone balance, stress, addictions and many other illnesses.  Acupuncture is actually a small part of Oriental Medicine, comprising about 20%.  For best results, acupuncture is used along with herbal medicine, diet and lifestyle changes.

Mudpacks and Poultices:

Medicinal Poultices and Packs clear stagnation to facilitate healing.  Mudpacks act in a similar fashion as acupuncture in clearing blocked meridian pathways, but without the needles.  Mudpacks can be used to heal old trauma sites, surgery scars, broken bones, piercings and tattoos that have caused blockages in the meridian system.  They can also be used to detox specific organs and glands and restore the optimal uptake of nutrients, supporting whole body healing.  Testing is done to determine the site of the blockages as well as the organs and glands that are negatively affected by them. Therapy can be completed in office or at home.

Meditation, Physical Exercise & Stress Reduction:

Mental, emotional and physical stagnation leads to illness and decay. Modern, fast paced life with all the distractions of phones, television, drama, chaos, social networking, and other modern technology can keep us disconnected from our souls.  We may find ourselves stressed, exhausted, immobilized, sleepless, depressed and anxious.  Nourishing the connection with our souls strengthens our overall wellness. Taking time to meditate, pray, use breathing or visualization exercises, spending time in nature and physical exercise are ways to stay connected, increase our awareness of our soul’s needs and strengthen our intuition. This connection keeps us balanced in an often unbalanced world. Keeping a balance of ‘head’ and ‘heart’ allows us to make better decisions for ourselves, keeps us safe, healthy and happy.

There are many Holistic Therapies available to support and heal every aspect of being.  Instead of reaching for something to ‘mask’ the symptoms of illness, reach for something that will bring awareness to the root cause of illness.  All true healing must begin at the cause or the source……and not the effect or the symptom.  Therefore, illness is an option, not a requirement……we just have to set our sights in the right direction, and take the appropriate actions.  Healing is available for everyone.
