Environmental and food allergies or sensitivities have become increasingly more common which can potentially lead to many chronic illnesses if not treated properly. Often times physical or emotional stress, poor nutrition or an overexposure to a toxic pesticide or chemical can trigger a chain reaction of immune difficulties. A person can become allergic or sensitive to anything: foods, herbs, vitamins, minerals, drinking water, chemicals, jewelry, clothing, paint, pollen, pets, grasses and even other people! Symptoms can range from mildly annoying to completely debilitating, requiring over the counter or prescription drugs and injections to manage the symptoms.
Luckily there is hope for people suffering from occasional, seasonal and even daily allergies, whether they are known or unknown. In fact, many sensitivities or allergies remain unknown to most people, even though they may suffer with them daily. With NAET, allergies and sensitivities are viewed simply as imbalances in the energetic system of the body as determined by Oriental Medicine theory and principles, and are healed with a melding of various medical disciplines including acupuncture, chiropractic, kinesiology and nutrition. Treatments can be weekly or bi-weekly, are painless and in most cases very relaxing. Depending on the number of allergens or sensitivities a person may have, a series of 12 to 24 treatments can bring life changing results by dramatically decreasing or even eliminating symptoms completely. Sometimes more treatments are necessary to reach a full remission of symptoms.
An example of an ‘unknown’ allergy may be a sensitivity to B complex vitamins. B vitamins, either in supplement form or naturally occurring in foods, are necessary for many metabolic functions within the body, so an allergy to those nutrients may lead to a deficiency or malabsorption of the nutrients. Symptoms of B vitamin allergy include: acne, smoking, addiction to caffeine, eczema, insomnia, mood swings and headaches. Once a person is cleared of the sensitivity, they may notice those symptoms subside, giving them a better quality of life. An example of a ‘known’ allergy may be a sensitivity to grass. Once the person is cleared of the energetic imbalance, the immune system no longer recognizes grass as an ‘invader’ that needs to be attacked, thereby relieving the person of the runny nose, itchy eyes and sore throat.
Other allergies or sensitivities that may also cause health issues may include sensitivities to certain types of environmental conditions such as cold, or damp cold, and heat or damp heat and also wind and sounds. A sensitivity to ‘damp heat’ may lead to symptoms such as insomnia, itching, shortness of breath, depression and panic attacks, restlessness, swollen feet and weight gain. A sensitivity to air conditioning may lead to symptoms such as asthma, cough, dry or runny nose, nervousness, cold flushes and indigestion. Clearing a sensitivity or allergy to environmental factors can greatly improve a person’s well-being and ability to enjoy everyday life.
Food and environmental allergies may also manifest as pain in the body. Often, debilitating pain is inappropriately attributed to a previous injury, when in actuality, the body has developed an allergy or sensitivity which is causing the pain. There are also instances where emotions can cause pain. NAET can be a useful and effective tool for healing the root cause of many health issues whether they are physical, mental or emotional.
A typical NAET first visit will take about 1 hour. All subsequent visits are approximately 30 minutes. The patient must plan to avoid the substance for which they are being treated for 25 hours directly following the treatment. Treatments are usually scheduled once per week, although there are instances when a person may be able to clear items more quickly and can schedule 2 visits per week to accelerate the healing journey. Many people have noticed a complete elimination of their symptoms that do not return, even years later.
